We started the week with Science Afternoon! Students explored density, buoyancy and the laws of physics through various experiments:
Purple Room - lava lamps. Using oil, water and food colouring, students explored density by making 'lava lamps' which moved with the addition of an alka seltzer tablet.
Green Room - writing on water. Pupils explored buoyancy and density making drawings float on the water. Some students then turned drawings into tattoos!
Yellow Room - skittles. Pupils explored dissolving food colouring from skittles and watching it diffuse through the water.
Orange Room - marshmallow and spaghetti structure. Pupils explored the laws of physics with compression and tension, seeing which class could build the sturdiest structure.
